Osteopathy is a drug free, non invasive manual medicine, concerned with the health of the whole body. Dr Andrew Taylor Still established the practice of Osteopathy in the late 1800s in the United States of America, with the aim of using manual techniques directed at all the systems of the body in order to provide optimum health and wellbeing. One of the main tenets of osteopathy is that the body functions as a unit; one poorly functioning part will cause compensations elsewhere; it is therefore necessary to find and treat the root cause of an area of pain or dysfunction, not just the painful part.
